Kahaluʻu Beach Vacation Rentals

A few miles south of Kailua-Kona, near Keauhou Bay, is the popular little snorkeling spot of Kahaluʻu. This beach offers the closest snorkeling to Kona town, and therefore gets quite crowded during the day, but if you stay at one of our great rentals nearby, you’ll have it all to yourself in the early mornings, when the snorkeling is best! Learn about all the Kahaluu vacation rentals below:

There are many rentals within walking distance of Kahaluʻu, and of course if you come to Hawaiʻi, you’d like to be able to walk to the beach! Bring your own snorkel gear, or rent some at a nearby shop, and spend the peaceful early morning hours paddling around Kahaluʻu with the turtles and fish. There are lots of rocks here at the shoreline, so foot protection is recommended. That said, just because you have shoes on doesn’t mean it’s okay to step on live coral, as that will harm it. Also, please make sure you wear reef-safe sunscreen!

Kahaluʻu is fairly shallow and calm most days, so it can be a great spot for kids or first-time snorkelers to learn. There’s also a surf school at the north end of the beach, and Kahaluʻu is considered an excellent beginner surf spot. Various types of surfboard rentals are available, as well as stand-up paddleboards and snorkel gear.

Kahaluʻu is very close to Keauhou, which has a shopping center with groceries, restaurants, and a movie theatre. It’s also close to Keauhou Pier, where many dive and snorkel cruises launch from, including those headed to Kealakekua Bay. You can practice snorkeling in the morning at Kahaluʻu, then hop on a snorkel boat to Kealakekua in the afternoon!

A rental at Kahaluʻu Beach will allow you to enjoy this great beach when it’s less crowded, and it will also be a great base for you to explore the Kona Coast! Contact us to reserve one of our Kahaluu Hawaii vacation rentals.
