Paukaʻa Vacation Homes For Rent In Hawaii

On the north edge of beautiful Hilo Bay, perched on a cliff above Honoliʻi, a popular surf spot, is the little neighborhood of Paukaʻa. There is probably no better view of Hilo Bay! Enjoy relaxing mornings overlooking the bay, watching surfers ride the waves. Spend your days exploring the great little city of Hilo, and retire to your comfortable Paukaʻa rental in the evenings. It’s got all the makings of a great east side vacation! Learn more about our Hawaii condo rentals on Big Island.

Hilo is the largest town on Hawaiʻi Island, as well as the county seat. As such, it’s got lots of great activities and areas for you to explore. It’s a 30 mile drive to Volcano, which you’ll definitely want to visit, as well as 40 miles of the gorgeous Hāmākua Coast to the north.

Start your day with some fresh island fruits at the well-stocked Hilo Farmers’ Market (big on Wednesdays and Saturdays), explore the many interesting shops along Bayfront, and have a picnic at one of the beautiful parks. Take a drive up Waiānuenue Avenue, and view the beautiful waterfalls at Boiling Pots and Rainbow Falls (swimming not recommended, as the Wailuku River can be hazardous). When you need to get in the water, head instead to Keaukaha, a coastal neighborhood just past the harbor, with many beach parks (though on the east side of Hawaiʻi Island, keep in mind that “beach” doesn’t equal sand).

Hilo has many unique small museums to explore, including ʻImiloa Astronomy Center, the Pacific Tsunami Museum, Lyman Museum, and Mokupāpapa Discovery Center. After all that, you’ll be hungry for sure, so it’s a good thing Hilo also has plenty of great restaurants to sample!
