76-6246 Ali’i Drive
(808) 329-7653

Like poke? Then you’re in the right place. The Kona Coast is famous among Restaurants in Kailua Kona for its excellent fishing, and an abundance of fresh fish means an abundance of great poke. If you’re not familiar with poke (pronounced PO-kay) this favorite local snack is a delicious blend of ‘ahi (yellowfin tuna) Asian spices, white and green onions, soy sauce, garlic, and sesame seeds. Poke comes in many forms, including poke made from tako (octopus), seaweed, and other seafood. There are countless poke variations, including kim chee poke, spicy garlic poke, and many, many more. For some of the best poke on the island, Da Poke Shack has got you covered, and offers plate lunches as well.

Da Poke Shack, Kailua-Kona Specialties

Da Poke Shack Restaurant sources their ingredients locally, and even has their own fishing boat. A local favorite are their massive poke plates, which include four kinds of poke, two scoops of white or brown rice, edamame, pickled mango, and two side dishes. Creative poke specialties at Da Poke Shack Kailua-Kona include Dynamite (avocado aioli poke), Spicy Garlic Sesame Poke, Fresh Garlic Shrimp, Spicy Kimchee Tako (octopus) Poke, the Shack Special, which is a sweet poke blend, and traditional Japanese poke recipes such as Chuka Idako and Taegu. But like many Restaurants in Kailua Kona, Da Poke Shack offers more than poke. Check out their Lau Lau Plate (pork and delicate butterfish wrapped in a taro leaf and steamed) or the Kalua Pork Plate. They also offer fresh ‘ahi sashimi, fresh fish fillets, platters, and bulk poke by the pound. Prices range between $11 and $30; every penny is totally worth it.
