Fitness & Gyms in Kaua’i

Just because you’re on vacation doesn’t mean you also want a vacation from your workout! Use the opportunity of vacation to explore a variety of fitness gyms in Kaua’i available to you.

Kaua’i Gyms and Fitness Centers

If you do a regular gym workout, you probably already have a set circuit that you like to train with. In that case, you’ll want to find a traditional gym in Kaua’i. With central locations in Kapaʻa and Lihue, Kauaʻi Athletic Club is Kauaʻi’s most complete fitness center. The air-conditioned locations offer over 80 group exercise classes weekly (call two days ahead to reserve spots for indoor cycling and TRX classes). Personal and small-group training is available, as are private showers and lockers (please bring your own towel and lock). Though it’s mostly locals who work out here, there are daily and weekly rates for visitors. Gym attire and tennis shoes are required to work out here.

On the island’s south side, a great spot to try a few new classes is Puʻuwai Fitness, with locations in Poʻipu and Kalaheo. Puʻuwai means “heart” in Hawaiian, and you’ll definitely get your heart pumping if you try a Barre & Cardio class, or maybe SHIFT (Short High Intensity Fitness Transformation). They also offer yoga, and children are welcome to accompany parents to most classes.

For a pampering Kaua’i gym workout experience on the north side, try the Haleleʻa Spa Athletic Center at St. Regis Resort, Princeville. There is complimentary access for guests of the resort, and other visitors may purchase a day pass to the 24-hour workout center. There is cardio and strength training equipment available, as well as certified personal trainers, sauna, steam, and shower facilities.

Outdoor Fitness

Since you’re in paradise, after all, you probably don’t want to spend too much time at an indoor gym in Kaua’i; you’ll want to explore all the outdoor fitness options available to you. Luckily for those who want a structured experience, there are companies specializing in just this kind of thing. Adventure Fit Kauaʻi, owned and operated by a couple of young fitness enthusiasts who were born and raised here, is a great choice for those looking for a fun new cross-training experience. Choose from hiking, mountain biking, or stand-up paddling, and your guides will provide a fun and educational outdoor fitness challenge, complete with nutritious snacks at the end.

Whether you prefer weight training, hiking, or hot yoga, get a great Kaua’i gym workout during your vacation!
