Located in beautiful Wailua at the Kaua‘i Coast Resort, Hukilau Lanai is one of East Kaua‘i’s most diverse fine dining establishments. A casual ocean view atmosphere and lush tropical foliage invites you to relax in the open air dining area while sweet strains of Hawaiian melodies by some of East Kaua‘i’s best local musicians sets the mood. With an eclectic menu, nightly fish specials, and locally sourced ingredients, including their own garden and fruit trees, Hukilau Lanai Hawaii makes for a fantastic and memorable dining experience. Besides enjoying top-notch cuisine in an unforgettably beautiful atmosphere, when you dine at Hukilau Lanai you will also be contributing to the local community. Almost all ingredients are obtained from local farmers, Kauai winery, ranchers and fishermen. Food is donated to the Salvation Army soup kitchen on a weekly basis, kitchen scraps go to local pig farmers, and vegetable oil is recycled into bio-fuel. Hukilau Lanai does composting for use in their onsite garden. Coffee grounds are donated to local farmers and wine corks are used in potted plants and for crafts – you get the picture. Almost everything is recycled, re-purposed, or redistributed, leaving a minimal carbon footprint.

Hukilau Lanai Hawaii Specialties

The menu at Hukilau Lanai runs the gamut, from fish, pork, beef, chicken, and pasta to soups, salads and creative appetizers. They even have a fairly large gluten-free menu. Prices are about what you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber, with salads starting at $6.50 and dinner entrees ranging from $21 to $36. Start off the evening with a choice from their excellent wine list and appetizers such as Swiss Chard and Mushroom Tart, Lobster and Goat Cheese Wontons, and Sweet Potato Ravioli. Their farm-to-table salads are a refreshing interval between courses. Entrees include unbelievably delicious cuisine like Pork Tenderloin, Filet Mignon, Farmer’s Market Vegetable Lasagna and nightly fresh-caught fish specials. For those who would like gluten-free choices, their gluten-free menu contains delectable fare such as Candied Ahi, BBQ Ribs, salads, Prime Rib au Jus, Chicken and Mushrooms, Wally’s Steak Crown Royal, and much more. They also serve 20 wines for $20, perfect for sampling the local Kauai winery offering and Hawaiian pineapple wine!

How to Get There

From Līhuʻe Airport, take Kapule Highway (HI-51) north to Kūhiō Highway (HI-56). Take Kūhiō Highway north past the Wailua River to Aleka Loop and turn right. As soon as you go around the left bend on Aleka Loop you will see the Kaua‘i Coast Resort on your right. Walk through the lobby; Hukilau Lanai is on the ocean side of the resort.
