Kapalua Golf in Kapalua has two of the best pro courses in the world – the Bay Course and the Plantation Course. Both 18-hole Maui golf courses are brutally challenging. The Planation Course, home to the Tournament of Champions, has constantly changing elevations and boasts sweeping ocean views. The Bay Course has two seaside holes at the 4th and 5th, challenging you “do or die” pars. A pond carryover to a split fairway on the par four 16th makes this fairway one of the most challenging in Hawai‘i. Wailea Resort’s Blue Course is set amidst a panoramic view of Haleakalā and Mā‘alaea Bay. On the par five 17th, players are faced with a blind drive over an uphill that obscures the green and the majority of the fairway. Next door are the equally challenging Emerald and Gold Courses.

Municipal Maui Golf Courses

Not to be outdone by the top brass, the historic Waiʻehu Municipal Golf Course was voted by Golf Digest as one of the best 100 courses in the U.S. For $70 including a cart (non-resident fee), Waiʻehu Muni is one of the best Maui golfing values. The Dunes at Maui Lani is the only course in the state built upon natural sand dune terrain, and has breathtaking views of Haleakalā and the West Maui Mountains. The Maui Country Club in Pāʻia is a par 36, nine-hole gem. Though this Maui golf course may look easy, but the trade winds that are a constant feature of the area will give you a run for your money.
