Menu

Their menu asserts the egg came first, the loco moco came next. If you haven’t yet tried a loco moco, this is a popular local dish of white rice topped with a hamburger patty, fried egg, grilled onions, and brown gravy. Two of the Hawaiian Style Café’s variations of the loco moco include The Bik Mok, with Spam, Portuguese sausage, link sausage, one egg and brown gravy over rice, and Da Tita Mok, with chicken cutlet, hamburger patty, Spam, one egg and brown gravy over fried rice. Come hungry, because this is a hearty breakfast! For something on the sweeter side, try the Hawaiian Sweet Bread French Toast or the Fruit Bowl.

Locally Owned & Operated

The Hawaiian Style Café is owned and operated by Guy Kaoo, who grew up on Hawaii’s Big Island and spent a considerable amount of time in his grandmother’s Chinese restaurant in Hawi. He spent seven years honing his craft at the Hilton Waikoloa, where he designed menus and created food “served with aloha.” Guy has owned The Hawaiian Style Café since 2005, serving local foods reminiscent of his childhood. He takes pride in his generous portions and comfort foods true to local style. Guy and his wife Gina also have a second restaurant location in Hilo. With the love of the islands fueling their work, they make sure no ingredient goes wasted; all food scraps go to a local hog farm.
