Dive into the Hawaiian history and science in the Bishop Museum in Hawaii

Since 1889, the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum has given visitors to Hawaii the chance to learn about the cultural and natural history of the Hawaiian Islands and other parts of the Pacific.

The exhibits here cover a range of artifacts and subject matters, from dinosaurs and artifacts from Easter Island to families spanning over eight generations and depictions of Hawaii in the media. There’s also a science adventure center onsite, with interactive exhibits on volcanoes and other aspects of the science behind Hawaii’s natural environment. Mobile audio tours are also available for an additional element of interaction and in depth explanations.

Admission prices for the museum depend on age, residency, and military status, as well as whether you select general admission or a 1 or 2 day all access pass. General admission prices range from about $17.00 – $25.00, while Kama’aina and military member tickets are priced between about $11.00 – $15.00. 1 day all access passes range from about $15.00 – $30.00, and 2 day all access passes are priced from $30.00 – $40.00. All children under the age of 4 years old are admitted for free. Discounts are available on general admission tickets when purchased online.

The museum is open 7 days a week, with daily hours from 9:00am – 5:00pm. The Bishop Museum in Hawaii does close for Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, however.
