O‘ahu Golfing

The Hawaiian Islands are famed for world-class golfing, and O‘ahu is no exception to the rule. Golf on O‘ahu offers spectacular scenery and a number of super-challenging courses. Though home to the LPGA LOTTE Championship, you don’t have to be a pro golfer to drive the ball on this amazing island; O‘ahu golf offers some excellent, reasonably priced municipal courses too.

Top O‘ahu Golf Courses

Kō ʻOlina Golf Club in Kapolei has the best pro golf course on Oʻahu. Home to the LPGA LOTTE Championship, this 18-hole course is brutally challenging. Built in 1990 by renowned golf course architect Ted Robinson, Kō ʻOlina dares you to challenge its numerous water features and multi-tiered greens. The Palmer Course at Turtle Bay Resort in Kahuku is nestled on the North Shore between the base of the Ko‘olau Mountains and the crashing North Shore waves of the Pacific. Arnold Palmer designed the O’ahu golf course to weave around natural wetlands and through dense tropical jungle, making this world-class O’ahu golf course a unique challenge. For the feeling of playing super-challenging golf in Jurassic Park, the course at Ko‘olau Golf Club features narrow jungle corridors and deep ravines, and is considered one of the most difficult courses in the U.S.

Municipal O‘ahu Golf Courses

Not to be outdone by the top brass, ʻEwa Villages Municipal Golf Course in ʻEwa Beach is a challenging, links-style windy course with tight fairways. Surrounding lakes, streams, deep rough, and residences make this course particularly difficult. The West Loch Municipal Golf Course, also in ʻEwa Beach, is a fairly challenging course with numerous tricky water features. The Kahuku Municipal Golf Course in Kahuku is a par 36, nine-hole gem. Though this O’ahu golf course may look easy, the trade winds that are a constant feature of the area will give you a run for your money.
