Ono Loa is truly a local island experience, with as many local ingredients as possible used in their dishes. From the fresh catch of the day pulled from the Pacific, buttered and toasted sweetbread buns from Punalu’u Bake Shop in the town of Na’alehu, green leaf lettuce from Waimea, goat cheese from Honoka’a, and Oahu tomatoes, this is a taste of the islands.
Ono Loa has a relaxed atmosphere with a counter to order. Grab an indoor table and wait for your food to be served in baskets on red and white checkered paper. Try one of their unique 100% beef burgers, such as the peanut butter filled PB & B(acon) Burger, or the Volcano Burger with cream cheese, two kinds of pickled peppers, and spices – similar to jalapeno poppers on a bun! Packed with local ingredients, you won’t want to miss the Macnut Pesto Goat Cheese Burger, with goat cheese made at a local goat dairy in Honoka’a blended with macadamia nut pesto.
If you’re not in the mood for a burger, try one of the specialty sandwiches, such as the Daily Catch Char-Grilled Fish Sandwich or the Hot Mess Kalua Pork sandwich, with slow-roasted kalua pork, egg, Swiss cheese, and their Big Island Pepper Company based sauce. Island Ono Loa also has local style plate lunch available, such as the Loco Moco, with two char-grilled hamburger patties and two eggs, covered in brown gravy.

Island Ono Loa Grill is located in the heart of Kailua-Kona along the popular Ali’I Drive at 75-5799 Ali’i Drive. They are open Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 11:00am to 8:00 pm, Tuesdays and Sundays 11:00am to 7:30pm, and are closed on Wednesdays.
