USS Missouri, A Historic World War II Attraction on Oahu

The USS Missouri is moored in its current location at the Battleship Missouri Memorial on Ford Island inside of Pearl Harbor as a testament to the tragedy of that took place there on December 7, 1941, as well as the historic site where the Japanese military forces formally surrendered to the United States and ended World War II on September 2, 1945.

 

The USS Missouri also saw military action during the Korean War during the early 1950s (1950 – 1953) and during Operation Desert Storm in early 1991. After Operation Desert Storm, the ship returned to Pearl Harbor in time for the 50th anniversary of the attacks and was decommissioned in early 1992 as the last active service battleship in the world. In 1999, the USS Missouri made its permanent home in Pearl Harbor.

 

Aboard the USS Missouri, you and your guests can partake in one of three guided tours, or you can opt to lead yourselves on a self-guided tour. Examples of tours offered include the Mighty Mo Tour, which takes a little over half an hour, and the Acouti-Guide tour, which can take up to 2 hours. Self-guided tours are set at your own pace, taking as little as half an hour to as long as 5 hours.

 

Admission for the USS Missouri ranges from $13.00 for a children’s Mighty Mo pass to $72.00 for an adult Passport to Pearl Harbor ticket.

 

The ship is open to the public daily from 8:00am – 4:00pm, closing for Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.
