A popular local Big Island bar with several pool tables, Coqui’s serves up great food and live local music nightly. For beer lovers visiting Kailua-Kona, Humpy’s Big Island Ale House and Kona Brewing Company won’t disappoint. Both places feature live music by some of Hawai‘i’s hottest reggae and rock bands and have excellent selections of microbrews and outside beers. On the Rocks, also in Kailua-Kona, is a hopping beachside Big Island bar right on the sand. Sam’s Hideaway in Kailua-Kona is a lively, long-lived neighborhood sports bar that features karaoke and some of the friendliest bartenders and wait staff around. Down in Pāhoa on the Big Island’s east side, Lava Shack is a fun, funky place offering live music, a well-stocked bar, and pool tables. For something completely different, check out Kozy’s Tiki Palace in The Shops at Mauna Lani for a super-fun nightly comedy and magic show.
